Why is this being hated on?

This book was pretty good I thought. Everyone tells me that this being isn’t worth it. That Reid is aggravating (I agree) and that Lou is stupid. I thought that it was pretty good. Yes. Reid was a little annoying and at some points he really made me want to scream and slap him but I enjoyed the story.

Saw it on tik tok had high hopes but the plot wasn’t very interesting and the love story develops a bit to fast without any real moments between the two characters, it’s just like oh suddenly they are like each other even though nothing has changed besides them being married.

I chose to buy this book based on the positive reviews here and was sadly surprised when I disagreed with them shortly after beginning the book. This book is bland, the writing too simple. The author gives us crumbs of amazing, horrific abilities that the witches have, mere sprinkles of history mixed in with boring paragraphs of the main character being “sassy”. I wanted to like it so badly and am trying to force myself to finish it just to see how the romance turns out. The story has so much potential, I wish the author had really set the stage by giving us more history and insight to the really cool magic in the book. What the witches seem capable of is truly creative and horrific, but sadly the main focus is the “enemies to lovers” trope.

I haven’t read a book that I’ve loved this much this all of Sarah J. Maas’ books. The characters had depth, the writing style was fantastic, the world was immersive. I didn’t expect this, though. A lot of young adult books like this nowadays are plain and bland and the writing is repetitive. The last book I read repeated “a chill that has nothing to do with the cold and everything to do with blah blah blah” was said like every chapter. The romance scenes weren’t necessarily romantic until the very end but you still sensed a change throughout the book. Very very well done.

This was the first book I’ve read in a long while that actually lived up to my expectations. Great world building, fantastic main characters-loved the alternating POV. Some of Lou’s lines made me laugh out loud! Great romance...with a nice little surprise sex scene that was hot hot hot (I thought this was a YA book). Pleasantly surprised and can’t wait for the next one!

Great book!

This was the first book I’ve read in a long while that actually lived up to my expectations. Great world building, fantastic main characters-loved the alternating POV. Some of Lou’s lines made me laugh out loud! Great romance...with a nice little surprise sex scene that was hot hot hot (I thought this was a YA book). Pleasantly surprised and can’t wait for the next one!

Just fabulous! A magical, addictive read! I loved the premise, the characters, the whole thing! A great different spin on witches! Lou is hysterical.. love the Romance, the little touches of history. This was great from start to finish!!! I hate that I have to wait a year for the next book! This great new author is now on my favs list!!!

Could not put it down! I can be something of a snob when it comes to YA novels because I truly love the genre, but this book exceeded expectations. Literally finished this thing in a day, and I’m already anxious for the second book.

Why is this being hated on?

This book was pretty good I thought. Everyone tells me that this being isn’t worth it. That Reid is aggravating (I agree) and that Lou is stupid. I thought that it was pretty good. Yes. Reid was a little annoying and at some points he really made me want to scream and slap him but I enjoyed the story.

Saw it on tik tok had high hopes but the plot wasn’t very interesting and the love story develops a bit to fast without any real moments between the two characters, it’s just like oh suddenly they are like each other even though nothing has changed besides them being married.

Disappointed

I chose to buy this book based on the positive reviews here and was sadly surprised when I disagreed with them shortly after beginning the book. This book is bland, the writing too simple. The author gives us crumbs of amazing, horrific abilities that the witches have, mere sprinkles of history mixed in with boring paragraphs of the main character being “sassy”. I wanted to like it so badly and am trying to force myself to finish it just to see how the romance turns out. The story has so much potential, I wish the author had really set the stage by giving us more history and insight to the really cool magic in the book. What the witches seem capable of is truly creative and horrific, but sadly the main focus is the “enemies to lovers” trope.

I devoured this book in less than 24 hours. Characters are great and the plot is unique, interesting, and attention grabbing.

Never expected this.

I haven’t read a book that I’ve loved this much this all of Sarah J. Maas’ books. The characters had depth, the writing style was fantastic, the world was immersive. I didn’t expect this, though. A lot of young adult books like this nowadays are plain and bland and the writing is repetitive. The last book I read repeated “a chill that has nothing to do with the cold and everything to do with blah blah blah” was said like every chapter. The romance scenes weren’t necessarily romantic until the very end but you still sensed a change throughout the book. Very very well done.

My New Favorite Book!

I usually never give reviews on books because i never read them and always get bored, but this book was amazing. I could not stop reading it. The only thing i did not likr was when Lou sang Big Titry Liddy. Besides this read it or else!

Amazing

This is one of my new favorites. I love the dimension of the characters, the detailed scenery that made it so easy to picture in my mind, and the interesting take on the witch/religious worlds. Let me just say, Lou might be the literary love of my life. Amazing story that I will probably read many times. Can not wait for the story to continue!
